Doug Burgum is Back As A CEO. Will Jodi Uecker-Rust Follow?

This morning I spotted a press release from January 31, 2011 announcing Doug Burgum has temporarily taken on the CEO position at one of his Arthur Ventures investment firm.

While the position is stated to be temporary - I wonder whether this may open a door for recently departed Sage Business Solutions President Jodi Uecker-Rust to re-enter as a CEO.

For those unaware, Jodi was Doug’s right hand person for many years at Great Plains until their $1.1 billion dollar sale to Microsoft in 2000. After the acquisition of Great Plains Jodi remained with Microsoft until she left in 2004 to spend some time with her Great Plains millions spend time with her family.

Uecker-Rust returned to the software industry in February 2009 with a position at Sage North America, first as the Interim President of the Sage Business Solutions division and ultimately serving as the President of Sage Business Solutions until departing in late 2010.

The thought of Doug promoting Jodi back into a CEO spot is not as far fetched as it may seem. Jodi was rumored to have left Sage either because she didn’t want to move to Irvine, CA (the reason all Sage folks seemed to spout)  or, more likely,  because she was disappointed not to reach the CEO position which had been recently vacated by Sue Swenson’s retirement.

Would Jodi make a good CEO for Doug’s company - Intelligent InSites?
